Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Which really wasn’t a wall at all
It’s rather a photo of a man on a wall
Which hangs there until it will finally fall

Such a photo is that of Sigmund Freud
Whose use of cocaine was like an opioid
Along with Darwin and Marx his figure stood tall
Until at last from the wall it had a great fall

Darwin’s admired for turning apes into men
Which in effect makes a monkey out of most of them
His old bones, having decomposed, in Westminster Abbey now rust
And are gradually devolving back into the primordial dust

Marx and Engels with prophetic words boldly foretold
The fall of the bourgeoisie while coveting their gold
Statues of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Castro and Mao stood tall
But like old Humpty Dumpty on the wall, they will fall

Now why could all of the horses and all the king’s men
Not put Humpty Dumpty back together again?
Could it be that when the reigning mythology is debunked
The social system it perpetuates becomes totally defunct?
