WHEN

It couldn’t have happened
In any other way
It couldn’t have happened
On any other day
The chance of it happening
In my lifetime at all
Was as if heaven to earth
Should suddenly fall

Someone who loves me came into my life
Someone whose face I adore
She said that she wanted to be my wife
And promised to love me forevermore
She must be a gift from heaven above
Being so unexpected and new
Just when I’m ready to give up on love
Feeling downhearted and blue
That it happened to me or even happened at all
As if in a fantasy it seems
Is beyond understanding and comprehension
And beyond my wildest of dreams
It’s more than anything I might ever imagine
Greater than my mind can conceive
So I promised to give her a kiss and a smile
And in her devotion believe
For as long as we live and to each other love give
When we walk hand in hand down the aisle

It couldn’t have happened
In any other way
It couldn’t have happened
On any other day
The chance of it happening
In my lifetime at all
Was as if heaven to earth
Should suddenly fall
